about

In 1964 American electronic music pioneer Raymond Scott released his groundbreaking work, Soothing Sounds For Baby, a masterpiece of functional minimalism. Todays infant, however, requires a more modern sound, one informed by the many tones, rhythms, and melodies of the electronic toys and learning tools it will encounter in its formative years. Enter Mikronaut’s Kasio Killerz Volume Four: Music 4 Infants.
In keeping with Scott’s original concept, this album is designed with the developing brain of the infant in mind. Each track contains a particular balance of soothing repetition and stimulating changes so that your baby can comfortably enjoy an optimal musical experience.
The underlying structure of the album is also formulated to provide maximum functionality for the caregiver. The first track (musicbox) is a simple recording of an analog music box that provides a gentle orientation to the baby and prepares it for the entire musical session to come, while at the same giving a nod to musical toys of the past. The next section of songs explores some the universal themes that all developing humans encounter such as; self-awareness, relationship to nature, the passage of time, urbanity and civilization, and learning/education. As the album progresses, the songs transition from alert and active into a more relaxed and reflective mood. This culminates in the final track, (internal lessons) which is an invitation to the newly forming consciousness to tap back into the universal and unformed awareness it has recently been privy to, and to attempt bringing some of the most valuable and peaceful elements into this new world in order to provide aid and guidance throughout this lifetime.
For best results play at a gentle volume. Also maximum stereo separation is recommended as most tracks have subtle panning effects to help provide the experience of space through music. If you have purchased this album on cassette please notice that there is extended silence at the end of each side. This is to give caregivers a chance to quietly stop the tape so that any infant lulled to sleep will not not be awakened by the machine stopping abruptly.
